The Moraschi family

The Moraschi family has been involved in viticulture since the second half of the 19th century. The first vine-dresser was Bortolo Moraschi, born in 1846.

The family-run company was subsequently founded in the first half of the 1990s by brothers Oliviero and Giuseppe Moraschi, supported by the oenologist Alessandro Santini. Thanks to them, the first D.O.C. and D.O.C.G. were created.

Organic vineyard cultivation

Tenuta Moraschi exploits only natural substances to nourish its vines, and nothing else.

A cultivation method that involves not only plant phytosanitary defense, using organically safe farming practices, but also the choice of planting, the working of the soil and the management of the green area with pruning and weed control. Cultivating organic grapes means a lot of manual work and a constant presence in the vineyard, both to pay attention to the natural wine cycles and to avoid any trouble.

The Franciacorta method

The Franciacorta production method includes the usage of noble grape varieties (only white grapes of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Erbamat and red grapes of Pinot Noir) and the manual harvesting of the grapes in boxes.

The main feature is the second fermentation in the bottle, which occurs during an aging period where the wine is left to mature close to the yeasts, for a minimum period of 18 months.

After this long wait, the wine undergoes the “remouge”, a technique that gently removes the sediment near of the crown cap and allows it to be expelled through degorgement. The process culminates with the dosage, the addition of the liqueur d’expédition and the corking.
