Franciacorta is a sparkling wine territory located in the heart of Lombardy, on the shores of Lake Iseo and extending across the gentle moraine hills for a total area of about 200 square kilometres. The extraordinary mineral richness of this area, together with the heterogeneity of its soils, is the distinctive element of a viticulture of excellent quality.
The amphitheatre inside which Franciacorta has come to life is an area where art and history are surrounded by beautiful hilly landscapes, small stone villages, medieval towers and castles, palaces that date back to the 16th century and places where spirituality is the key.
The Torbiere del Sebino Natural Reserve, known as a “wetland of international importance“, is considered a priority area for biodiversity in the Padana Plain.
An important religious complex of great spiritual importance and of considerable historical and artistic interest which testifies the authenticity of the motto “ora et labora”. Inside you can admire numerous paintings from the 1500s and 1600s and an ancient herbalist’s shop. Very interesting are the chapter house with paintings by Pietro da Marone and the sacristy with the splendid frescoes by Romanino.
It is the largest inhabited lake island in Europe, considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, which is characterized by a timeless atmosphere and the absence of car traffic. Furthermore, in 2016 Monte Isola represented the beating heart of Christo’s “The Floating Piers” artistic installation.
